Small businesses in the UK contribute some £1,206 billion to the GDP of our economy and provide employment for 12.8 Million people. It is through the hard work, creative spirit and ‘Can do attitude’ of people who start, develop and succeeding with their businesses that we as a country will grow even in the face of worldwide challenges. However, of the many people who start a new business each year, not all of them are entrepreneurs; for, although it is true, that they have all taken risks, work extremely hard and over come so many challenges they no longer warrant individual conversations, the true entrepreneur is a bred apart. Theirs is a business which does not blend into the landscape, but is spiky and loud, they have changed/challenged the sector’s ways of working, rewritten the consumer’s list of minimum requirements for a given product and indeed changed the status quo for ever; or at least until the next entrepreneurial revolution. Entrepreneurialism is never static, never content, always questioning and reinventing itself, ultimately the person who wins this award will be different and no doubt proud of it. It provides content and guidance for company directors and managers on topics that directly affect’s the running of their businesses. This section is complemented by a website www.telegraphbusinessclub.co.uk and a series of regional seminars, with a Membership which exceeds now 12,000 and is growing month by the month.
